Flourish Group July Blog: Supporting Youth Through First Tee Alberta

We believe businesses should create value beyond profit by actively contributing to the people and communities around us. That belief is reflected in our partnership with First Tee Alberta, an organization making measurable impact through youth development across the province.

First Tee Alberta is grounded in a simple but powerful idea: introducing young people to golf as a platform for building confidence, discipline, and essential life skills. Through structured programming, participants develop tools that extend far beyond the course, shaping how they approach challenges, relationships, and future opportunities.

Measurable Growth Across Alberta

The growth of First Tee Alberta reflects the strength of its programming and the growing demand for accessible youth development opportunities like this across the province.

In 2025, the organization achieved several key milestones:

  • Over 4,000 youth participants reached (a significant year-over-year increase)

  • 94% growth in coaching capacity, strengthening mentorship and participant support

  • Expanded programming across schools, golf facilities, and community centres throughout Alberta

These results reflect more than participation growth. They demonstrate a program that is resonating with families, educators, and communities across the province.

Creating Access and Opportunity

A defining strength of First Tee Alberta is its commitment to accessibility and inclusion. The organization is intentional about ensuring more young people can participate, regardless of background or financial circumstance.

Key indicators of this commitment include:

  • 50% of on-course programming delivered at no cost

  • 40% of program locations serving equity-deserving communities

  • 36% of on-course participants identifying as female

  • 41% of on-course participants identifying as BIPOC

By reducing barriers to entry, First Tee Alberta is expanding access to meaningful development opportunities and helping create a more inclusive future.

Expanding Access for Indigenous Youth

In 2025, First Tee Alberta also made meaningful progress in expanding its reach into Indigenous communities.

Led by coach Andrew Fox and supported by the 7 Generations Golf Association, the program introduced more than 250 First Nations youth to golf through initiatives including:

  • Grand Centre Golf & Country Club programming

  • Cold Lake First Nations community events

  • Partnerships with Indigenous schools across Alberta

For many participants, this was their first exposure to the game in a supportive and welcoming environment. Alongside learning golf fundamentals, they developed confidence, new skills, and experienced the value of mentorship.

These efforts also helped strengthen relationships with Indigenous leaders, families, and communities, building a strong foundation for continued growth in 2026 and beyond.

Why This Work Matters to Flourish Group

As a family-owned business, our approach to community investment is guided by integrity in how we operate, a long-term view in how we support initiatives, and a focus on finding solutions that create meaningful impact.

Supporting First Tee Alberta aligns naturally with those values. We believe meaningful impact begins early, when young people are given encouragement, access to opportunity, and mentorship. Programs like this help create these foundations by combining skill development, mentorship, and community connection.

We look forward to seeing First Tee Alberta continue to expand its reach and deepen its impact across Alberta in the years ahead.
